SCRTA proudly donates to area organizations that help children and their families.
Always a teacher
Ronald McDonald House provides parents a place to stay and rest while their child is undergoing treatment for often very serious illnesses. SCRTA members primarily help by donating snacks, toiletries, cleaning and paper products which are brought to meetings and then delivered to RMHC in Akron by a SCRTA member. Members also save the pull tabs from soda pop, soup, pet food, and other canned goods. These tabs are also delivered to RMHC where they are recycled for cash which is then used to provide families staying at the Ronald McDonald House special moments of normalcy and joy – like birthday gifts, trips to the hair salon, and anniversary dinners. Disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer and paper towels.

SAFE LANDING YOUTH SHELTER provides crisis and emergency services to children aged 11-17. Safe Landing provides short term residential care, with the length of a child’s stay dependent on circumstance and need. Up to 12 children can be housed at any one time. Again, members bring donations from Safe Landing’s wish list to a SCRTA luncheon meeting, and the donations are delivered to the organization by a member. Safe Landing needs include:
Bottled water, Gatorade/Powerade
Individually wrapped snacks (granola bars, snack crackers, nuts, trail mix)
Ranch dressing
Kitchen items including: disposible silverware, paper plates, Ziploc bags, and plastic wrap
Cleaning products: Lysol wipes, paper towels, dish and hand soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets
Toiletries: full size hygiene items including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, lotion and hair gel
